FAQs on PRISMO brushed white+

This overview compiles frequently asked questions about PRISMO brushed white+ as a quick reference guide. It provides key information about the product's properties, applications, and special features.

General information

  • The "PRISMO brushed white+" surface visually resembles a light patina with enhanced RHEINZINK pre-weathered texture.
  • Subsequent print coating with titanium dioxide pigmentation provides a white, corrosion-protective finish.
  • The result is a seemingly random but consistently textured design with a longitudinal pattern aligned with the rolling direction, resembling an enlarged pre-weathered appearance.

Material and Composition

What is the "coating" made of?

It is a thin, water-based special coating combining inorganic (hydrocarbon-free) materials and polyurethane.

How is the pattern created during production?

It is developed through a specialised application process. The design result is highly distinctive.

How is PRISMO brushed white+ produced?

The proprietary PRISMO brushed white+ is manufactured in our state-of-the-art pre-weathering facility in Datteln.

Durability and Appearance

What RAL colour is assigned to PRISMO brushed white+?

No RAL colour will be specified.

How long does the white structure remain colour-stable?

The surface has a good colour stability over six years of testing, promising further longevity. Intermediate areas weather slightly, giving a darker visual perception.

When does the rolled bright structure begin to weather?

The patination process duration depends on exposure to moisture, building orientation, location, and slope, ranging from weeks to years.
The passivated blank areas of the white-structured surface begin patination slightly later than the CLASSIC surface.
The structure remains intact throughout.

How does the surface appearance change when weathiering?

Initially, there is a stark contrast between the white and rolled bright structures.
The bright-rolled areas patinate, losing their metallic sheen and becoming light grey, remaining brighter than prePATINA ECO ZINC blue-grey.
The weathering of the intermediate spaces is slightly reduced compared to typical bright-rolled zinc due to the production process and the structured surface.

Are there batch or surface variations in colour?

The coating colour is consistent and does not vary between batches.
The structure/print pattern may show slight batch-to-batch differences.
Ideally, sampling and installation should be carried out from the same batch.
The reverse side is unstructured with a light, white, untextured coating/finish.

How is the quality of the coating assessed?

From the outset, the product was developed to meet the highest standards.
The surface is explicitly designed for durability, even in demanding climates such as coastal regions.
Outdoor exposure tests on Helgoland since 2018 have further confirmed its exceptional corrosion resistance under extreme real-world conditions.

Product Range

Is there a roof drainage product range in PRISMO brushed white+?

No, not from RHEINZINK! Third-party fabricators might produce gutters on request.

Are there different coil sizes?

The initial range is:

  • 0.8 mm thickness.
  • Coil widths: 500 mm and 1000 mm.
  • Coil weights: 100 kg, 500 kg, and 1000 kg.
  • Sheets: 1 x 2 m at 250 kg.

Why is the thickness 0.80 mm and not 0.70 mm as usual?

The market launch started with 0.8 mm thickness. This thickness is standard for visible applications, typically on façades. Since roof drainage is not planned, 0.7 mm was deemed unnecessary initially.

Technical Properties and Processing

Is ion migration expected?

Yes, but significantly reduced. Testing begins in November 2024.

Are there differences in processing?

No, it is TAC quality.
Tools with soft jaws should always be used.

Is the material solderable as usual?

Standard soldering flux, ZD PRO from Felder, is entirely sufficient.
Naturally, the solder joint becomes contaminated as the coating dissolves.
EXTRA solvent can be used for pre-treatment to reduce contamination during soldering.

Storage and Care

What should be considered during storage?

As per RHEINZINK recommendations it should be stored dry and ventilated conditions. No film protection is required.
